ABOUT US

Asian Art Research is an institutional, dealer and collector resource for consulting, identification, appraisal and detailed research into Asian art and antiquities. Established in 1998, Asian Art Research specializes in the arts of China, Japan, Korea, the Himalayas, South Asia and Southeast Asia. All areas of art are considered, including fine art, antiquities, religious art, folk art, collectibles, textiles and furniture. Services include— collection development consultation, curatorial support, education and lectures, valuations and identifications, consultative sales, auction representation, research, insurance review, estate and private sales. Representative clients include major North American museums, select government agencies, private collectors and trusts, as well as, multinational insurance and shipping companies.

 

Anthony M. Lee, Managing Director and Appraiser, has spent most of his life in the Asian art business starting at the age of 14 in his family Chinese art gallery in Toronto. This eventually led to university studies in Asian fine art history, many years of living in Asia, and further specialization including masters licenses in Japanese tea ceremony. He is the author of three books on Japanese culture and Zen Buddhism and a contributor to international journals on Asian art.
